Five Highlights Of January

31 January 2019

I think this has been the fastest month of my life. I don’t quite know how it happened but I had a baby at the beginning of January and now in a blink of an eye he is already four weeks! Hopefully this year will slow down a little! Here are  some things that have made my month.

  1. I had a little boy!
Obviously this is going to be number 1! I didn’t spend four hours in labour for nothing. I can’t get over how much love I have for this tiny new human. He is absolutely perfect and is the most chilled out baby I have ever met! I’m sure it’s the calm before the storm but I definitely hyped myself up for sleepless nights and a screaming baby 24/7 but he is quite a content little baby and my heart bursts whenever I look at his chubby cheeks.

  1. Putting together a winter wardrobe
Although I am glamorously sporting massive maternity bras and interesting nursing tops, I have been slowly purchasing some pieces for my winter wardrobe. Whilst Didier is combination feeding I can still wear nursing tops and normal knitwear which is what I’ve been hunting down. I finally picked up a few jumpers in camel, brown and khaki colours which is a big deal for this all black wearing gal. I can’t wait to style them up with winter coats and boots.

  1. Lazy Days

As Mathieu was on Paternity leave we had a month of him staying at home with us. Waking up whenever we felt like it with baby and as he’s our personal chef, we had pancakes for breakfast and dinner cooked for us every night! It was bliss spending all that time with my husband and the little one as a new little family. It was definitely hard letting him go back to work.

  1. Getting back into blogs

I have recently been in a YouTube trance where I find videos I want to watch and put them on my watch later playlist and just let them consume me. As a result, I haven’t been keeping up with a lot of my favourite bloggers which is a shame as blogs are my favourite platforms. Recently though I have found some old flames that I haven’t been paying as much attention to as I would like, usually favouring their insta stories so its been nice to actually catch up on said posts and get back into the rhythm of reading their thoughts and indulging in their outfits and photos.

  1. Home cooking

Before baby I definitely didn’t have enough time to cook meals from scratch as I left the house for work at 6am and got home at 7pm. After those hours, the last thing I wanted to be doing was standing in the kitchen preparing a meal that was going to take me three minutes to inhale after that long day. Now though strangely enough, after having the baby I have more time to spend in the kitchen. Whilst Mathieu naps with baby I find myself drawn to the chopping boards and making meals whilst listening to podcasts. So far I’m loving this kitchen time.
