Three Exfoliators I love

09 August 2018

Exfoliating has always been my favourite part of my skincare routine. I have a real love affair with physical exfoliants and as a young teen I used to prowl the aisles of Boots and Superdrug looking for a good face scrub.

Obviously as a thirteen year old back in 2005 I had no idea what exfoliators were or what they did. I just knew that my face didn't feel clean until I had scrubbed my face with all the little beads or seeds.  fast forward to 2018 and this is still a step in my routine that I never miss out. Now I have a few different exfoliants on rotation and these are my current faves.

The Physical scrub I've taken to lately is the Pixi Peel & Polish . After trialling this for a few weeks I have fallen head over heels and will definitely be going back to this product. The smell is a little medicinal but not a problem for me, even with sensitive skin this exfoliant wipes away any dry patches and after my routine is complete I am left with radiant, soft baby skin.  The best part is that this is a two in one and allows you to leave the product on a peel for a more intense treatment. I love to shake it up and every couple of days alternate between the two. Be reminded that when using facial scrubs to use them with care. Your skin is delicate and the beads/too much pressure when scrubbing can cause 'Mirco tears' causing redness, sensitive skin, and inflammation. I prefer to use this scrub with a muslin cloth to wipe away with warm water.

Another I've been loving is the Ordinary's Glycolic Acid Solution and have favoured this over Pixi's Glow Tonic, which left my skin feeling sticky.  This solution leaves my skin feel like I've had a treatment and after using it every other day, I've noticed that it leaves my skin smooth and blemish free until those hormonal joys pop up every few weeks. I love that this product works on my sensitive skin and doesn't burn just leaves a tingling sensation.

I've never heard of an exfoliating face mask before so as soon as I saw The Ordinary's Peeling Solution I bought it instantly. I saw that everyone was put off by the blood red colour and that apparently, once applied, it felt like a "thousand tiny knives stabbing you in the face" as I read from one review but I found that it was just a little tingle and after a few weeks that goes away once your skin is more tolerable to the product. I use this every two weeks and I love the outcome every time. I tend to avoid it if I have healing blemishes but aside from that this product has become a fast staple in my routine.

Have you tried any of these?
